Louisiana GPS Geocache: "Sugar mill"

We found and logged "Sugar Mill" north of New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain Sunday July 7, 2001

These caches are part of a worldwide game dedicated to GPS (Global Positioning System) users, called GPS Stash Hunting, or Geocaching. The game basically involves a GPS user hiding "treasure", and publishing the exact coordinates so other GPS users can come on a "treasure hunt" to find it. The only rules are: if you take something from the container, you must leave something in the container, and you must sign the logbook. The real treasure is being able to find it and sharing that with others by your logbook post.

We had perfect weather and rode our XS 650 Yamaha twin cylinder motorcycle to log this GPS cache.

The park entry fee was $2.00. This may be $1.00 per person. (two of us on a motorcycle)

Our bike parked by the ruins of the old sugar mill in the park.

We signed the logbook and I got some photos of the other finders log book entries so we could read them later. We did not want to hang around in case others came searching on this perfect day! (they are below)!

Bobby Jr. got the F-15 key ring below. We left a fold up fan, a bottle cap for a free Dr. Pepper, and a business card.

Suntan lotion, ice tea, our bike, and my adventure partner!

The three pages of log book entries above, the fourth is ours! This cache is easy to access and in a great location!
