Greg Lalonde's Girlfriends XS650:
I saw your site on the web and just had to build one of these scoots. I found a bight on e-bay and bought the bike for my girlfriend for 700 bucks, flogged the seat, tank and pipes for 300, still have a few stock parts to get rid of on e-bay. Dropped the rear down and will take an 1 1/2 inch out of the front to slam it right down for her shorter inseam. The "new" tank has been fitted, waiting for the peashooter pipes, rear sets, omars cafe seat, etc.. after a lot of grinding, powercoating and paint we'll send some more "as we go" pictures. Soon she'll be zipping around the New Orleans area in company with a Confederate Hellcat.
Here are a few pics to add to web page. It has 36 mm mikuni vm's, new tires and an apparent top end rebuild. After some requisite cutting, grinding, disassembly and powder coat the project is starting to come together. The before pic can be seen on this site at # 606. 1st picture shows clubman bars and controls fitted, new chrome head light bucket (Mikes XS) w/working lucas ammeter and old school steering damper knob fitted for looks (Ebay). Actual steering damping being done by late model gsxr piece fitted under headlight 2nd picture shows nice attention to detail with new Mike's XS 10.5" shocks, and bronze swing arm bushings. Aftermarket gsxr rear sets, modified turn signal mounts, aluminum chain guard from Confederate and turn signals from Omars. Bye bye to the buddy pegs and mounts, center stand and 1.5 inches of side stand. 3rd picture shows the rolling chassis starting to take shape. Reflective chrome powder coat wheels and entire rear disc and rotor assembly from a guy in Washington on e-bay, Front disc's, gauges, steering neck bearings and all software to rebuild forks after powder coating from the ever helpful Mikes XS. Omars supplied the side mounted tail light and plate mount. Hot coils came with bike, thanks man. 4th picture shows body and paint work coming back, very sweet candy apple red and silver job done to the Yamaha 750 tank, front fender and side covers(e-bay). narrow cafe seat from Omar's still at painters. 6 piston gxsr front calipers will have custom aluminum mounts once backing plates for disc's are machined and installed to give required distance between wheels and inside edge of calipers. 5th picture just another view of what is turning into a very nice little scooter.
