Starter Gear #4:
Hello,
Here is my story:
I bought 1980 XS650SG. The starter was doing the grind. I
searched the web and found your pages. I saw your info about the
#4 starter gear. So I ordered the parts from my local Yamaha
dealer. I gave him the part numbers. When I was picking up the
parts; the parts guy says: why are you buying these? I told him
about the grinding and he asks: how do you know you need these
parts? So I told him about your info and how it made sense. He
says: I would have taken it apart before ordering parts. I said
it's got to be that gear. Anyway, I trusted you and here is my
photo. The gear is 1/3 gone.
