XS650 engine, transmission, crankshaft, and clutch assembly images and information.

Inner clutch hub and pressure plate alignment holes shown above and in place below.

Inner clutch hub and pressure plate aligned with the inner index mark visable through the alignment inspection hole in the pressure plate.

If the inner hub has no recessed alignment mark at the proper tooth it is actually the inner hub outside tooth shown at 9 oclock above. Only one of the inner clutch hub clutch spring bosses lines up exactly with an outside tooth.

Yamaha hand stamped crankcase case half pair ID numbers behind the clutch assembly.

If you grind off one end the quad staked center pin on the late style cam chain tensioner rear guide assembly you can install a new endless cam chain easily with the cases disassembled. Squeeze it back together and bolt it back in place with the 4 allen head bolts. The center pin does nothing when the assembly is bolted back in place.

One of the constant pressure oil jets shown in the orange glow that lubes the connecting rod big ends and splashes oil on the cylinder walls and wrist pins for piston and pin lubrication.

Clean 447 bottom end with transmission, cam chain, seals and crankshaft in place.

5 speed transmission gear pairs shown with numbers on driven gears.
