Ponchatoula, La. Strawberry Festival Ride: 4-14-02

We cruised out highway 90 west on our XS650 to the Huey P. Long Mississippi river bridge and rode up Clearview parkway north to I-10 west. We picked up I-55 North at LaPlace, La. to the annual and very popular strawberry festival held in Ponchatoula, La. at the northeast corner of Lake Pontchartrain. 140 miles round trip.

Left, a Lincoln Navigator Limo! Sign on the right says: Friends Don't Let Friends Eat Frozen Fish!

Cruising west on Interstate 10 (I-10) in Kenner, Louisiana.

The weather looked threatening early on, but it turned out to be a beautiful day. Exit 10 to 55 north.

Port Manchac, La. seen from the elevated I-55 going north.

There were hundreds of motorcycles parked along the railroad tracks. We parked here and when we came back the line of bikes followed the railroad tracks out of sight!

Wow! A Captain America Virago with a Peter Fonda patriot paint job!

Wow! A classic, confederate shovelhead with an SU carb in the wind!

883 Sportsters look like nice classic flat trackers to me!

This entire town has public roads that become festival pathways in every direction!

Louisiana Strawberries!

Saw BB2 scoping out some Cajun Sheilas! (again)

Fresh Louisiana Strawberry Jelly! Preserves were at the next table!

Crawfish Pies! A pair of them below!

These are crisp and moist with an explosion of flavor inside!

Not sure what type of sausage these were: crawfish, gator, pork, whooping crane maybe? Still cajun good!

Ice cream reinvented. BB2 had 6 different flavors layered in the cup at the left!

I keep discovering things I never saw before, and some combined with new names!

Definitely more motorcycles than I ever saw! Easy parking, great fun, perfect weather and high gas prices!

Chocolate coated strawberries. Fresh strawberries dipped in fresh chocolate while you watch.

Strawberry daiquiri, strawberry lemonaid booths and summer clothes everywhere!

Even a strawberry water fountain!

BB2 scored a couple of bucks in the grass!

I-10 west on the ride back toward New Orleans. Commercial jets going in for landings at MSY Int. Airport.
