Saturday Ride 8-18-07:

Hi,

We went across the river to Causeway Blvd and then we caught the Causeway across the 24 mile long Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge to Pontchatoula, La. Then we ate lunch at Middendorfs Seafood Restaurant in Manchac, La. Then we rode to Grammercy, La., and crossed the Mississippi river back to La18 (the river road). It is 104° with the humidity as high as possible. I was worried about the 763cc piston kit, camshaft, head work, and 36mm carbs in my bike but it keeps on trucking! I rode my XS650 and so did Jim Mitchell.

He found another XS 650 and we have been fixing it up. Hurricane Katrina got his other bike. It was completely under saltwater from the Lake Pontchatrain for 3 weeks, the pro-ported cylinder head and the Web Camshaft and rockers were both in perfect shape! As the motor filled up with saltwater slowly all the oil in the motor went to the cylinder head! Then it went back down weeks later! The bottom end is trashed however! www.650motorcycles.com/JimMitchell.html
