1978 XS 650:
Title: A fine lady all the
way from British Columbia
Hi, love the site by the way. Hours of inspiration!! (and i'm not
even halfway through yet!!) Well, I just recently bought a '78 XS
for a few hundred bucks. It's not in real rough shape, but not
real nice either. Being dropped on both sides can have that
effect. With it being so old, it's about time to replace seals
and some other stuff for cosmetic looks. So, I log on to Mike's
and buy away! I'm trying to do all the work myself, partially
because I'm cheap, I take pride in a job I've done myself, and
mainly just BECAUSE I CAN. :) I've decided on Cadillac pearl
white with some pinstriping in golden brown. As the seat had rips
in it, and the pan is rotted far beyond resurection, I'll be
making my own two part seat and getting it upholstered in brown
suede!! Haven't seen an XS with that yet! (other than choppers)
Other than that, I've just blasted and cleaned the frame, cleaned
and polished the engine and got the wheels stripped and ready to
be re-laced and trued. Hopefully I'll have it on the road after
the long Canadian winter.
Also, the last picture is of my first bike. A mini chopper I
built and painted last summer. Found out 10 hp with a single
speed is good for 85 km/h!! It's a sweet ride, and I'm sad to see
it go, but three's a crowd.
