Hi,
Here's one more rigid for
the gallery; I built this one from a stock '81 just recently.
After stripping & slicing the frame, I sent it out for the
hardtail treatment, but then did everything else (excepting the
tank paint) in my garage. It's pretty straightforward ... tossed
the fenders, smoothed the fender mounts from the front fork legs,
and cleaned them inside and out. Fresh fluid and seals, of
course.
The seat is supported by a pair of RockShox units; ride is firm,
but not bad. I routed the pipes inside the frame rails, so they
wouldn't compromise ground clearance; no mufflers on them, but
it's not obnoxiously loud either. SV650 headlight, aftermarket
tail light. Scratch built battery tray, rear brake assembly,
ignition switch moved to proper location under tank. Rebuilt and
rejetted carbs, new inlets & filters, you get the idea ...
nothing radical, just a nice one-kick straight forward daily
driver. Uncle Sam hit us hard this year, so she's looking for a
