1981 XS Chopper:
Hello Chopper World,
First off,
I'd like to thank Josh Scott for his help.
He certainly helps keep things rollin along in my busy
shop. Well here we go with the details. This is
another from head turner from G&L Choppers in Colorado
Springs, Co. It was built for Rick H. in
Florida. It's an 1981 XS model. This one started
with our 4" stretch, stock rake frame.
We used the stock front end and wheel set. Front fork
lowers were turned to remove all mounts then powder coated for
nice clean look. Forks were lowered two
inches. The tank is a rubber mounted
sporty. Seat is a standard 9 1/2 solo with
3" springs mounted to the frame cross support for
a little lower ride. The rear fender is
a FX/FXR front fender which was ran through
the english wheel to achieve the radius.
Handlebars are Biltwell Frisco style powder coated
bars. Side mount horizontal taillight is recessed to keep
the narrow lines. We used our new style forwards that were
polished and nickel plated. These controls mount forward of
the frame down tube so you can use the stock pipe or similar
contour pipe. Paint is HOK black done by
G&L. Silver leaf and pin stripping was done by Steve
Havens Fine Pin Stripping of Colorado Springs, Co.
Hope everyone likes her. Thanks to www.650motorcycles.com for a cool site and
posting our stuff.
Thank You,
Richard Ford
