Morris Mag Wheels:
Here's some pictures of a recent wheel project for my personal XS650 Streettracker. I did a trade and ended up with 2 aluminum Morris 19" wheels. They were twenty years old and bare, meaning they had no bearings or carriers for bearings. Both wheels were 19" x 2.15" in width. The front would be fine for use with stock forks in the stock width, but I wanted the rear to be 3.50" width. I sent the rear wheel to Kosman in Windsor, California. Sandy Kosman builds drag chassis for all types of Pro drag racers and has extensive fab equipment. He is set up to widen all manor of wheels and did a beautiful job for $425.00. I then designed up bearing carriers front and rear to accept stock Yamaha front rotors and a YZ250(very light), Braking oversized rear rotor. I had Sprocket Specialists make a rear sprocket that used the same 4 bolt pattern as the Morris wheel. I had some 12 point Titanium bolts that were almost 6" long that I used to hold the rear sprocket on and both bearing carriers to the rear wheel. Then I had all the aluminum parts polished and anodized gold and the wheels powdercoated gold with clear. The end result is a set of very cool wheels for less than the price of lacing up a set of new flattrack type wheels. The best part is this. I had a set of magnesium 19" wheels all built up(for another project), with tires mounted and discs bolted on. My "aluminum" rear wheel(complete), by using light bearings, disc and hardware ended up within a half lb of the "mag" wheel. The front aluminum was aprox 1.5 heavier. Pretty close in weight for about a third the cost!
