Peter Jones 1978 XS 650 Streetfighter Project:

Hi Bob,

I got a 78, 650, guy I bought it off wanted a Harley so it has HD tail light and rear indicators. Was going to street track it but decided to go towards the European streetfighter look (I'm originally from Britain) Put twin discs on and lower bars, used Suzuki calipers with home made adaptors (GSX 600). Going to fit L.E.D. tail light this weekend, and I have a neat twin headlight setup from Britain which will be fitted soon. (when I fit the Suzuki forks) I'm building a 782 re-phased motor using Honda CR500 con-rods and Honda hurricane big bore pistons (82mm dia.) the crown height is 14mm lower so it compensates for the longer rods. I've been in touch with Tony at Halco' in Britain and he tells me you can go to 87mm pistons. Been measuring every thing I can and Yamaha XT350 pistons are 86mm with lower crown so they will fit with Honda MX rods, just in case you wanted to build a real big bore monster. Only has 19mm pin but as rods have to be bushed-no problem. Here's a pic of bike at present. I will send pics as I get them developed.

Thanks for the great site.
