650 motorcycles parts and photos

1981 XS 650 Cafe Rat:

Hey,

I've been to the 650 links site a million times before, during, and since my restore. I can't believe how many there are! I finished (so to speak) my 1981 last summer (two pics attached). My first. I was 24 (so was the bike), so hopefully I've got enough in me for a lot more. The seat pan and brake light housing were cut and pounded out of heavy 16 gauge steel, new Mac pipes wrapped in heat cloth, with universal tapered mufflers, new bars, springs, etc etc, plus a slick black paint job chocked full of red mica which glows in the sunlight, a nice burgundy. This winter I'm taking the headlight down a couple inches, possibly losing the gauges, and might get clip-ons instead of the clubs. Most of my new parts were from MikesXS. A buddy of mine is making a drag style hot rod chopper out of a '79. These bikes are great. Thanks for all the links!

Rock 'n Roll - Mike
