1972 Yamaha XS 650:
Hi,
Came across your site few months ago. I'm 16 years old, and have
been working on a 1972 Yamaha XS 650 of my own. Found this bike
in the back of my dads shop. Pretty much just a tank, chassis,
motor, and rear fender. Stripped it down, cut the backbone to
rake it, lowered the front and back down, and have done some
other things. Runs a 650 motor, relieved and ported heads, 38mm
Mikuni's, custom tuned straight pipes, and a constant loss
ignition system. I hope to take it to Bonneville speed week in
2009, when I get out of highschool. By then, I hope to have the
Shell Thuett heads and cam, that we have in our shop,
on it. Only ridden the bike once, and it idles at 20 mph.
Gassed on it, and it pulls like a top fuel dragster. It twisted
the bars it accelerates so hard.
Thanks, Marty, - Marty's Speed and Salvage
