John Weeke's Custom Ride:
I found this 1980 XS 650 after it had been parked in
the guy's garage for 18 years. My original plan was a chopper
which has evolved to what you see here. Maxxis Whitewalls,
Stripped Rims, Shortened aftermarket H-D rear shocks, 18 Tooth
front & 32 tooth rear sprockets, new chain, new battery,
rebuilt & re-jetted carbs, Cleaned and sealed gas tank,
rebuilt petcock, A tombstone taillight that originally was on my
1960 Panhead, a modified H-D sissybar which pulls right off when
riding solo, New Mac Drag Pipes, Pod Air Filters, New High Output
Coil, wires, plugs, boots. Moved front forks up 2" in Triple
trees. Leather saddlebags from my 87 Softail, Cut front fender,
Diamond tread plating in sissybar, side covers and maltese
crosses on gas tank, New modern headlight with H4 bulb. Old H-D
windshield. Future plans are 1" Apehanger with modified H-D
risers. New handlebar controls and front master cylinder, Forward
controls with foot clutch hand shift. Fork brace, Mini Speedo and
? who knows.
This has been more fun and challeging than building my previous
HD's.
