UK XS650 Cafe Racer Project By: Ian Falloon
Hey Bob,
Great site, I regularly check the pics to see what's going on.
I bought this bike as a 'rat-bike' and started out immidiately
turning it into a cafe racer. The bike wears a pair of GSXR 1100
forks and Triumph Thunderbird hubs, laced to Akront rims. The
tank is a one-off item made to fit the XS. It was hand made by
The Tank Shop in Scotland. It's a Manx Norton 5 gallon copy. The
engine will remain standard except for a bit of a polish and a
pair of underslung 'slash cut' pipes will exit on the left side,
just in front of the rear wheel.
The engine should be back from the builders in a week or two and
the Manx seat unit should be back from the re-fabricers in around
the same time, so I'll get them in place and get another photo
over to you! Then it's just a case of re-wiring it and getting it
through it's MoT!!
Take care bud!
