Donovans Chopper Seat:
Hello to all who ride the true budget chopper/bobbers on here. This is a seat that I made from materials from home depot, no less. I got some sheet metal and cut the shape of the seat to start. Easy to manipulate with hands only over my leg. As support I took three pieces of 1X1/4 steel and bent them to fit the contour of the seat pan. As you can see- just drilled holes and screwed them in place. I mounted the front of the seat with a regular T door hinge. As suspension, there were industrial clamps on sale in a bin for 99cents a piece (2 obviously), screwed in place as well. That under it is just a piece of curtain rod (wood) painted black with beer caps on end to dress it up trailer-park-style. When the seat flexes, the rod slides up and down on the frame. Around the edge is a strip of molding that goes on the edge of a car door (auto parts store). The whole seat including the bit I bought to drill with cost 30$ and is surprisingly different and comfortable (believe it or not). Feel free to e-mail me with any questions. To all- keep the creative juices flowing. donovan.vanzandt@ci.austin.tx.us
