Custom Built Flat Tracker:

This is a custom built flat track race bike.  Every piece on this bike was built by Dennis Bellor from Saginaw Michigan, USA.  The engine cases are not stock but that's about all that's left of the original XS 650.  The 900cc twin is 13.2/1 compression ratio with an automotive type crank running in plain bearings with 20 slugs of Tungsten for and additional 6.5# over stock crank weight. Custom built with titanium "H" long connecting rods. I saw the rods on the bench prior to installation and asked Dennis "when did you get the Carrillo rods?" he replied "oh I made those!" I was stunned, they are beautiful. The engine is dry sumped with the pump being belt drive designed and fabricated by the owner.  The dry Sump is located where the electric starter used to be.  The cylinder and head are both billet with extra fins for better cooling.  There are now a total of eleven chrome moly head studs, these can be torqued to 35 ft lbs.  AP studs are very expensive so Dennis just made his own  Stock valve angles are 38 degrees and this head has the intake at 29 and exhaust at 33 degrees. A sharp eye will note the rocker pivots are re-located to facilitate a ratio rocker.  78 pound clutch springs to handle the major HP and torque.  Clutch pull is moderate due to a redesign of the disengagement system.  Of course the frame and suspension are all designed and fabricated by Dennis as well.  If you ever get to a Michigan Flat Track event be sure to check this one out, there's plenty more custom features on this one.  Believer it or not, Dennis doesn't own a computer (probably too busy in his shop) this was posted by Gary F. Westendorf bike #1401  Thanks for reading.  See you at the races!
