1980 XS 650:
Hi everyone,
Thanks for this web site.
A friend put me on to this site and it's great. I bought this
1980 650 last fall (my first 650) to do as a winter project and I
really enjoyed it. These bikes are easy to work on and thanks to
Mikes, parts are available. I did the usual upgrades, bearings
and bushings, painted the frame, and some more chrome parts off
of E-bay. I also put a set of Mikuni 36mm carbs on, this really
improved performance. I already have a 1983 heritage for this
winter's project. After a successful Bison hunt in South Dakota,
we picked the bike up in Iowa, and hauled it home as shown in the
first picture. Second picture was taken while we were restoring
it.
