1977 XS650 Restoration:

Thanks for putting together this website, its provided many great ideas.  I restored this bike from the previous owner's mechanical massacre, which included spraying the entire bike with Krylon outdoor flat black paint, dropping it a dozen times, molasses in the crankcase, and varnish caked in the carbs.  I had machine work done on the motor before I reassembled it using the stock cam with the largest stock oversized pistons Mikes' XS had to offer, with a claimed 680cc in the end.  I've changed the exhaust and returned to the stock seat with new covering since these pictures, and repainted the tank slightly different.  These bikes are a blast to work on and sound amazing.
