Hi

How do you tighten the allen head bolt that goes through the bottom fork leg. You know, the one that goes up under the axel hole and screws into the alloy tube that holds the forks together. The bolt nearly tightens but no it turns the aforementioned alloy tube that goes inside the spring. I have tightened one leg but the other one wont play the game. Your input will be greatly apreciated.

what I do is pull the damper out and find a socket that will fit on the end of it. It should have two flat spots on the upper side then I load up my ratchet with extensions shove it back into the legs and hold it in place while I tighten the allen screw. DO NOT USE THE RATCHET FOR ANYTHING BUT TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. These are very soft aluminum and you will tear it all too pieces if you hold the allen head and tighten with the ratchet. Hope this helps. It worked for me. When you get it tight stop turning :D

Thanks Guinness :D .
I just got back from the local swap meet where for $10 I bought a 2 1/2' long socket bar and am now going down to the shed and give it a go.

I cut the sides out of a cheap single hex 12mm socket so the socket fitted over the flat sides of the aluminium tube and using my new socket bar voila... one tight nut

Hey guys. I'm a newbee to the forum. My question is about stock SX forks on a streettracker. Every body is aware of the floppy forks mostly because of the axel through one leg and clamped in the other. Could one use another left with the pinch clamp except on the right side? I not aware of any setback on the axel location on the leg. If there is...could it be turned around and lop off the caliper mounting lugs. I only want one brake for a TT set up anyway and I don't like the looks of fork braces.
