Hey guys, does anyone know the majick trick to soldering old floats? I found a leaker and want to do this on the cheap. Dollars are better spent elsewhere at the moment.

just make sure they don't have any water or gas in them and solder them. after you do that make sure they still float if you arent comfortable with that then I'll send you a set of unholy ones pardon the terminology. I just ask you to pay shipping but you can have the set. Send me a pm with your address.

Should be fine. Just lightly sand area to be soldered and use a good hot soldering gun, with acid core solder. Use as little solder as you can just to keep buoyancy right. Shouldn't be any problem though. You'll be just fine. Have fun and let us know if it works.

Awesome. Thanks for the offer, but before i take you up on that i will see if my buddy who gave me the bike will let me pull some off one of his parts bikes. We work .opposite shifts so i only see him on the weekend. For future refrence, i found it easier if you melt open the center hole. This keeps the expanding/contracting air inside from pulling in the molten solder before it freezes.
