Misterious part

Yesterday I completed the rebuild of my 5V4 engine, but later on I found a part that I forgot. It belongs in the head but I don't know what's its function. Does anyone know? Is it so important that I have to open the engine again?

Looks like a breather plate, might throw out too much oil through the breather without it! Though it wont stop it running, up to you if you want to chance it!

First it is upside down. Good news to install it you only have to take off the head. Here is a photo of where it goes. Bigbore is correct.
