I need an xs650 out of Chicago or the Midwest, help!

Am I a retard or are these bikes really hard to find? I've been looking for the past couple weeks now in my area just through craigslist and eBay and I can't find a damn thing!
Im really hyped on the way these bikes look and I'm trying to Learn as much as I can about them and do my very first ground up build but can't fucking find one. I bought a kz400 about a year ago that I've chopped up a little and it's been fun but I'm ready for something bigger and something I can challenge myself with.
I'm willing to travel a few hundred miles for the bike too so as long as it's nothing crazy someone should let me know. I'd appreciate any leads at all and want to share my progress over the winter with everyone on the site. I look forward to asking a million questions from you guys and learning about these awesome bikes.



If anyone comes accross anything worth looking at send it my way. It can even be the engine by itself, I'm doing this from the ground up so it doesn't matter. Thanks for your help!!!

Just keep looking they are out there. Try Madison and Milwaukee. I have seen alot up their. Indiana as well.

Awesome I'll check up there now! What year should I be looking for in your guys opinion. They way I want to build it is gunna be long low and hardtailed with a springer front end racked out a few feet. I love that 70s style of chopper and want to base this bike off that. You guys have any ideas on what year I should look for or what kind of frames can hold those engines?

They are out there patience is the thing,they are also fetching more and more money,when I first started playing with them you could pick them up easily for next to nothing, these days you have to wait till one comes up and more often than not ,people want alot for them I live in the most isolated city in the world but they still come up from time to time,do you have a free ads paper free to advertise that is,

I am not sure what you mean. Craigshelper will let you search craigslist in the radius of your choice for a specific item.
